The Story of Feeding the 5000 and Our School Values of Courage, Compassion and Community

Loaves and fish

At St Augustine Academy, the story of Jesus feeding the 5000 (Matthew 14: 13-21) perfectly embodies our school values of Courage, Compassion and Community. In this miraculous event, Jesus took five loaves and two fish – just a little – and through His grace, provided abundantly for thousands.

Like the disciples, our students are encouraged to show courage with facing challenges, compassion in how we care and support each other and create a community, where we work together, sharing resources and strengths to build a school that where all are included and empowered.

Jesus’ miracle of Feeding the 5000 teaches us that even with limited resources, when shared with a compassionate heart, we can make an extraordinary impact.

We are dedicated to ensuring that all our students flourish. We provide a wealth of resources and support on every level – academically, emotionally, spiritually and practically – so that every student can grow, thrive and live out these experiences in their own lives. Just as Jesus cared for the crowd, we ensure that every child in our community feels valued, supported and able to achieve their full potential.

This same spirit of giving extends beyond our school walls, and into our local community. This reflects our commitment to charity and outreach, where we give generously to those in need, regardless of how much we have, whenever we can.

St Augustine Academy embraces this well known miracle of Jesus Christ as our school’s biblical narrative, and is humbled to be able to live out it’s message every day.
