A fascinating competition was introduced to our students by one of our English teachers, Mr Bowles. He encouraged students to try their hand at writing their own story and to enter the competition. He reports on the project:

"At the end of our academic year in 2021 to 2022, ten plucky writers from across our year groups participated in a writing competition, one where their minds took them to the gothic side of literature and beyond- the Twisted Tales. For this competition, each competitor had to write a short story with a twist, one that would capture and shake the hearts of their readers. Through a painstaking process of limiting their story to one hundred words, these writers wrote incredible twists that earned themselves published positions within the Twisted Tales Anthology; a collection of stories from various schools who also wrote some fantastic tales! This limited collection will be available in the library for current, and future students to read. This is the first time most of these writers have had their pieces published, and as an academy, we look forward to seeing many more written pieces in the future!"
