BackWorld Book Week - success!
Posted on: 8th Mar 2023World Book Week 2023 was a huge success, with students and staff participating in several competitions and reading challenges! A massive thank-you goes to Mrs Probets and Ms Paterson, our Librarians for arranging the event.
- We had ‘blind date with a book’ where students had to pick a book based on the ‘dating ad style’ description on the front.
- We had a ‘guess who’s coming to dinner’ competition, where students and staff had to guess the book characters around the table based on the props.
- We had a book scavenger hunt around the school.
- We asked our staff members to come up with an autobiography book title and students were tasked with matching the titles to the teacher.
- We asked our staff members to wear a label with a book title that the students could go on a quest to find.
- We had several other worksheets and activities to do in the library.
- We had a reading quiz and short audiobooks to listen to during mentor time.
- The Mad Hatter Tea Party, as the finale, where students could pay £1 to have a bag filled with their chosen items of 'party food' from an array of food found in books, such as apple pie from The Railway Children, jelly beans from Harry Potter and jam tarts from Alice in Wonderland. Money raised will go towards purchasing new books for the Library.
