Miss Carlo reports on a fantastic event at the Academy....

"In January we were asked if we would like to be part of a new youth theatre project, so I absolutely jumped at the chance! The project is entitled ‘Pieces of Us’ and is a verbatim piece of theatre created using words from local young people.

We began by having a 2 hour workshop with the Year 10 GCSE Drama students, where they did lots of different exercises, including some lucid writing. The students were asked to dig deep into their thoughts and feelings on a variety of topics and the leaders from the workshop were able to walk away with lots of text from our students.

We then had a 6 week pause whilst a piece of theatre was created using our dialogue. On 8^th March, BINT Theatre came back with a performance for us and it was FANTASTIC. Not only was it a beautiful thought-provoking piece of theatre about mental health, but it was amazing to know that some of the dialogue in the performance came from our students. We all laughed, cried and overall had an absolutely brilliant time watching it!"
