The Year 9 Girls Football Team made the short trip to Maplesden Noakes with the aim of securing a spot in the District Cup Semi-Finals to be played at Maidstone United’s Gallagher Stadium. Standing in our way were Aylesford, Maidstone Girls Grammar & Maplesden Noakes.

First up for SAA was the hosts, Maplesden Noakes. A quick-fire double from Tally Manser (yr8) and then captain Lacey Shepherd (yr9) gave us an early lead. Some good defending and stops from Faye Bolton (yr9) kept Maplesden at bay until the final minutes of the game when an excellent long range strike would finally get past Bolton, ending the game SAA 2 : Mapelsden Noakes 1.

Next up, the challenge of Maidstone Girls Grammar. A slow start allowed MGGS to take an early advantage and unfortunately SAA never recovered. This led to a convincing 3-0 win for the MGGS girls.

Last up was a game against the girls from Aylesford, a nervous start allowed Aylesford to take an early lead. A string of Aylesford saves kept St Augustine behind until a late Ruby Sykes cross was brilliantly met by the leaping Tanesha Mitchell who guided a header into the bottom corner to send SAA through to the Semi Finals!
