BackU15s Girls National Cup
Posted on: 13th Mar 2023Lingfield College made the trip from South Surrey to SAA for a game in the National Cup. The U15’s squad was depleted with sickness & injury but battled well as they succumbed to a defeat. The game began in end to end fashion with chances for both teams, Lucy-Louise Morley making a string of superb saves to keep SAA in the tie early on. A change in formation saw Lacey Shepherd & Sophie Goodwin move into the unfamiliar role of defence but their performances helped keep Morley’s goal protected. Five minutes before the break the side from South Surrey scored twice to take a 2-0 lead at half time. A well worked set piece and a long range strike gave them the goals. In the second half, Izzy Sale recreated her brothers goal from Friday to get St Augustine back in the game with a low shot into the back of the net following a fantastic delivery from Olivia White. However, Lingfield responded immediately when a dangerous cross was diverted into her own net by Lilly-Ella who had blocked everything Lingfield had thrown at her previously. St Augustine’s spirited display wasn’t enough as Lingfield stood strong to progress into the next round. We wish them all the best in the next round of the competition.
Squad: Lucy-Louise Morley, Sophie Goodwin, Lilly-Ella Morris, Diya Maheshwaran, Lacey Shepherd, Evie Wright, Izzy Sale, Olivia White, Sophie Muir, Naomi Shannon
