Student Voice has been collecting warm clothes and blankets and sorting them for the charity Care4Calais. This charity exists because there are an estimated 2000 refugees currently living outside on the streets in northern France. This includes families with young children too. As one of our core school values is “community”, we are doing this to help out other human beings around the world as part of the global community.
On Saturday 9th December Mr Vasudaven drove the donations to the Care4Calais base in France on behalf of St Augustine Academy. After a three-and-a-half hour delay at Dover, one broken down ferry and some very rough sea conditions, the donations from our staff and students finally made its way to Care4Calais’s base at Blériot-Plage.
The charity’s Head of Logistics, Imogen, would like to extend her thanks to everyone at St Augustine Academy who took part in the collection and wishes everyone a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
